CSIAMUN is excited to acknowledge and celebrate delegates who exhibit outstanding diplomatic skills, critical thinking, and a dedication to collaboration when addressing complex global issues during our conference. Exceptional performers in their respective committees will be presented with awards. These individuals embody various qualities essential for successful diplomacy, such as articulate and compelling speech, leadership, cooperation, and formality. Such delegates may have taken leadership in shaping the final resolution, introduced crucial ideas, or even challenged other delegates through skillfully asked questions. Above all else, they must have moved the committee forward substantially at all stages through their contributions.

We encourage all delegates and their faculty advisors to maintain a balanced perspective regarding the awards. The fundamental basis of the simulation is collaboration and cooperation among nations, which includes working together through multilateral diplomacy. There are no winners or losers in this process; participation in the simulation is a reward in itself. Each student officer has undergone training to evaluate delegate performance, and all staff decisions related to award determinations are considered final.

  1. Active Engagement in Committee: As an educational simulation, CSIAMUN staff expects active engagement and contributions from delegates in their committee’s activities. Assessment is based not only on delivered speeches but also on actively listening to fellow delegates’ speeches and making motions that enhance the committee’s efficiency. During lobbying, delegates are expected to collaborate with different delegations to propose and refine solutions and facilitate negotiations with those holding opposing positions.
  2. Professionalism and Diplomatic Values: Delegates are urged to embody the diplomatic ethos of the United Nations by engaging inclusively and respectfully with peers in sessions. This involves actions such as elaborately negotiating, reaching out to non-English speakers, actively listening to speeches, seeking input, and collaborating rather than acting unilaterally in working blocs. CSIAMUN acknowledges that a country’s stance may sometimes oppose the majority, emphasizing the importance of supporting committee actions in alignment with national or organizational policies. Conflicts should be handled professionally and constructively. Delegates are advised against unprofessional or disruptive behavior, including inappropriate portrayal of stereotypes or character traits.
  3. Proper Use of the Rules of Procedure: CSIAMUN uses the rules of procedure to facilitate the effective workings of the committee and debate. Consideration will be given to delegates’ knowledge and proper use of CSIAMUN rules, which differ from rules at other MUN conferences, and delegates’ use of rules to further the work of the committee. Staff is patient with new delegates who may not be completely familiar with the Rules of Procedure, particularly in the early conference sessions and during the voting procedure.
